You do not need a long list. These seven simple habits are the base of the Ayurvedic day.
Ayurveda places great value on a steady daily routine, called Dinacharya. Start small and add one habit at a time.
Seven habits
- Wake early, ideally before sunrise.
- Drink warm water and clear your bowels in the morning.
- Clean your teeth and tongue every day.
- Move your body: walking, yoga or stretching for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Eat your main meal at midday when digestion is strongest, and keep dinner light.
- Keep meal times regular.
- Sleep on time, ideally by 10 to 10:30 pm.
Weekly extra
- A self-massage with warm oil (Abhyanga) before bathing.
